Keeping Records that can Serve as your Witness!

The people in the Bible sometimes would build memorials to the mighty acts of God in their history.  They put up stones of rememberance, and built permanent records in rock that would serve as witnesses to their children and grandchildren, for what God had done for them.  Christians in the past kept journals of their spiritual experiences with Jesus.  All of this leads to the question, are we keeping diaries of the prayers we have had answered or journaling how our spiritual growth is happening?  Could our children or other family members benefit from our efforts in recording our journey with Jesus?  Many things come to mind which you can record.  Perhaps record weekly insights from your worship time.  Record how God worked during time of sickness in your life.  Share the joyous occasions you were blessed with!  Explain the peace you have felt from the Lord. All of this will soon give you a book of "witness" to share and pass on to family or friends.  Don't forget to include dates!  The Lord in His mysterious ways often uses special dates.  Think about giving time to writing down your spiritual journey.  Think about what the ripple effect could be!  God is doing great things and He is quite precise on the details. AMAZING!

Praise Where It Belongs!

No one wants to be around someone who causes them to get into a bad mood.  It also gets to be quite uncomfortable when that person praises their own efforts and accomplishments. There may be an occasion when justification is needed, but never a time where self-praise is enjoyed by another listener.
What do we find in the Bible about this?  From Proverbs 27:2 it reads..."Let another praise you, and not your own mouth.."   It seems rather clear that giving praise to one self is not wise, and likely will drive away others.  So,shall we put praise where it belongs?  Praising others spreads a spirit of joy!  It lifts them up.  When we praise God for all He gives us, we find others joining us in that praise!  When we grumble, and focus on our doings, we find this works against us! Let us all bless and praise God, lift up others in love, and conquer the enemy in this important area.

 Ecclesiastes 7:1 -8:1
Haven't we all looked back occasionally and questioned our past decisions?  What are some of the decisions you most regret? Maybe it was a car you purchased or perhaps a career you wish you had pursued!  Or even maybe, you feel you spent time with the wrong person, that person who was negative in your life!
If you would take the time to read the verses listed above in the Book of Ecclesiastes you would find some interesting thoughts about "wisdom" and "making decisions".  In verse 11, the writer tells us "wisdom is like an inheritance, and is a good thing".  He further tells us "wisdom is a shelter" and "wisdom preserves life" and "wisdom makes man more powerful"!  A famous author Chuck Swindoll defines wisdom as "the God-given ability to see life with rare objectivity and to handle life with rare stability".
So where do you start to gain more wisdom!?  You can begin by using discernment!  In the book of Proverbs, chapter 10:13: it reads "Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning".  Discernment is the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong.  Discernment is the process of making careful decisions based on the biblical standards in the Holy Bible.  Discernment is listening carefully for the Spirit of God to guide you.  It is very easy to get tossed about in this world and engage in unbiblical decision making and behavior.  We have to give our best efforts not to stumble! Remain faithful in your discernments, and seek good decisions in every area of your life.
YEARN to discern!  Yes, it can seem like hard work sometimes!  But in all the "nitty-gritty" matters, remember to seek the wisdom that helps you decide why you are making those particular choices.
In closing, remember the wise person gives thought to their ways!  The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous.

We give thanks unto You, O God, because we can approach Your throne, at any time, with freedom and confidence! Father, we thank you that we are Your workmanship and our identity is found in You. We are grateful that we were chosen before the foundation of the world, that you adopted us, that you love us, and that we belong to You. When we are tempted to worry about what others think or we are afraid of how others see us, God remind us that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We are no longer condemned; we are forgiven. We are delivered. We are healed. We are set free. We are overcomers by the Blood of the Lamb! We are Your sons and Your daughters. Hallelujah! We are victorious. In Jesus' name, Amen.   (By T.Morrison)
